CAN MEN AND WOMEN BE FRIENDS?
The writer-Camille Chatterjee- refers to a controversial issue which is about whether men and women can be real friends or not. S/he firstly mentions challenges to male-female friendships, reasons why males and females can not be real friends and s/he makes use of some research results and studies conducted on this issue.Afterwards, s/he explains how males and females can achieve becoming actual,true friends without sexual tension. The writer shows some ways to real friendships by overcoming problems that arise from men ,women or society.

In almost every society there is a wrong argument that a man and woman can not be real friends. This idea probably derives from mentality of past centuries since in old times there was a huge gap between men and women .Men were superior to women and women were regarded as second class people.They didn't come close to one another apart from having sex.As a result, today there is still a misknown remark that a man and woman can not be true friends. However, in our century men and women are so mingled with each other that they do almost everything together like working,entertaining,traveling etc. They are like an inseparable whole.That's why people should get rid of their wrong opinions about male-female friendships.
When examining the article itself,it seemed too long and I thought it would be boring before reading it. However, as I read I understood that it was not as dull as I thought.The writer used small paragraphs and gave examples related to topic as many as possible, so it didn't bother me.It was a comprehensive and beneficial writing.I liked the way the writer categorized topic which facilitated reading the article.The writer usually used known words and I could easily get what s/he meant.

' AT HOME WITH MAMMA '
The article entitled 'At home with mamma' is another writing which mostly deals with the reasons why many Italian men stay in the family nest and shows us advantages and superiorities of staying with family. To be more realistic, writer benefits from some research results ,so(that) he succeeds becoming more persuasive and keeps away making wrong judgements about topic. He says that there has been a rising number of men who prefer living with family recently and he explains men's inclination to staying at home instead of moving to a new house or apartment block. According to Burke,the most prominent reason is economic.When you remove a new house ,your expenses increase necessarily since you have to pay your house rent,electricity and water bills, you will also have extra expenses for food,drink etc. That's why many Italian men live with their family. However, there are some others who stay in family anyway even though they have enough money for all their expenses and they don't need their parents economically. This is because they like the easiness of life at home and they have also excellent relationship with their family.Particularly Italian mothers are really attached to their boys and Italian men do not want to be deprived of their mothers' affection. The case is similar to one in our society. Italian families are not authoritarian any longer. Therefore, men prefer staying at home ,this is another reason.The writer says the closeness between mother and son may be problem after marriage since some women may be jealous of this relationship and may be uncomfortable with it. I totally agree with writer ,this obsessive affection can cause troubles in marriages. Eventually,I liked this article.I found the examples great especially Federico example. It was an educatory writing and language was very fluent.

'SHOW ME THE WAY TO GO HOME'
The writer-Anastasia Toufexis- states that there is a misknown claim that children grow up and leave home and she tries to enlighten us about this wrong argument throughout her article. I want to say that as a whole I liked writing, it didn't bother me hardly ever except for the part in which the writer gave percentages of women and men in terms of tendency to leaving home in different years to prove her thesis. It would be worse if she had used more examples about percentages . Apart from this part, I liked the concrete,literal examples taken from real life.
Just like many people, I also had thought that leaving home is more common today than in the past especially during puberty since teens start to think that they can take decisions by themselves and they want to keep away parent control ,but I am mistaken. The idea of leaving home may not be so broad in our society because our family type is mostly conservative and people are used to living with their parents. THE WALKING DEAD
In The Walking Dead, you are forced to decide. You also have precious little time to choose, and must live with the often terrible consequences. It is based on a strip cartoon series with a same name and it deals life struggle of a small group after the advent of zombies.Most of the story takes place in rural areas between Atlanta metropolis region and Georgia.These are the only safe places far from zombies which eat everything alive and turn people into zombies by biting them.Throughout the three seasons,our characters put up a fight against both zombies and other hostile people groups.During these conflicts,some of the group members die and in the following episodes new members substitute them.
Rick Grimes(leading role) is a former Sheriff's deputy who has been in a coma for several months after being shot
while he is on duty. When he wakes, he discovers that the world has been taken over by Zombies, and that he seems to be the only person still alive. Having returned home to discover his wife and son missing, he heads for Atlanta to search for his family. Entry 2-Second Term
In his writing the author -Leo Buscoglio- tries to show us how an important and compelling role our parents have in our life and how they guide us when we are stuck and when we can not think anything logically. As a whole I liked the writing very much. This writing is an anecdote and for this type of writing fluency is indispensable factor. I believe that the author succeeded in using a fluent language. From the moment I started reading to the last moment,I read writing with pleasure.I was never bored. Not to bother the readers. the author used many small paragraphs so that he kept the attention of readers alive throughout the writing. Instead of using a few paragraphs but really long ones, he preferred using small ones ,which is very wisely. When I first shot a glance at title, I wondered why Leo used the term philosopher and after I finished reading ,I found out the reason . The topic was quite suitable for such a subject. It transmits the message that during our most desperate and hopeless times, either of our parents can be our pioneer or savior and s/he can prevent us from doing something wrong. In this writing, the author faces some problems which are probably derived from culture shock. Leo is an Italian-American and like many people coming from other countries to America, he encounters a number of hardships. While he was too young to understand what is going on around him it is okay for him to live in America. Nonetheless, as he gets older these difficulties become too huge to ignore. when he was at junior high school, he was attacked and humiliated by a group of boys. Afterwards, he was frustrated and helpless. He also hated being an Italian. He was about to drop out his school. However, after his conversation with his father, he changed his mind. The papa gave him reasonable directions and deterred him from making mistakes. Maybe papa could not solve his problem at that time ,but he instilled confidence and made Leo determinate and strong. All in all, I can say that being mature is not about age, it is about experiences in our life. In addition, parents are our most reliable
friends and leaders during our most gruelling moments. That's why the author call papa as a philosopher in other words as an advisory.

Galatasaray Football Club ,commonly known as Galatasaray, was founded by Ali Sami Yen in 1905 in İstanbul.
It is a Turkish professional football club and it is the most successful one
having won 44 domestic trophies including a joint-record 18 Super League
titles, a record of 14 Turkish Cups and a record 12 Turkish Super Cups.
Galatasaray has also won the UEFA Cup and UEFA Super Cup in 2000 so that it
became the first Turkish team to win a European trophy. The club has a
never-ending competition with other great İstanbul teams like Beşiktaş and
Fenerbahçe while the derby between the latter ,known as Intercontinental Derby in English,
is regarded as one of the most prestigious in world football.
NAME AND PRONUNCATION
The name Galatasaray itself springs from that of
Galatasaray High School. Galatasaray is translated directly as Galata Palace.
There is no diminutive form of Galatasaray. Fans refer to the club either by
its full name or by its nickname ‘Cim Bom Bom ‘ or the shortened version ‘Cim
Bom’. It is important to keep in mind that Galatasaray is a compound word and
it is pronounced as such. The most common mistake done by non-Turkish speakers
is to intonate as Gala-tasaray while the correct articulation should be
Galata-saray with a very brief pause between the two words.
CREST
Galatasaray’s first emblem was the
figure of a spread-winged eagle with a football in its beak. The eagle was a
model emblem that Galatasaray dwelled on at the beginning. However, it didn’t
attract too much interest ,so it was switched with the current one in the
1920s.
Grounds
When Galatasaray was formed, none of
the Turkish teams had their own home ground, and all games in Istanbul Football
League took place at Papazın Çayırı where Şükrü Saraçoğlu Stadium is situated
now. In 1921the city’s first proper football stadium was constructed-Taksim
Stadium- When this historic ground was demolished in 1940, Galatasaray decided
to build a large and modern stadium. Nonetheless, due to hardships stemming
from World War II, construction was delayed for over two decades.

Stadium: It was named
after the founder of Galatasaray and was opened in 1964.At first, it had capacity
over 35.000. Due to the improvements in security and prohibition of standing
spectator, the all sitter capacity reduced to 22.000 in 1993. This stadium has
always had historic importance for fans although it is smaller and older. In
2011, it was pulled down after Galatasaray had moved to newly built Türk
Telekom Arena.

Arena: It is the new
home ground of club. It was opened last year. Capacity of 52.695 seats makes it
largest private stadium owned by a club in Turkey. During the games it has an
unbelievable atmosphere. The echo facilitates fans to break decibel record. To
be there and advocate my team in a match is one of my dreams and I hope I will

First of all,being a student at METU means being a member of one of the most prominent universities in Turkey,for METU only accepts successful students from all branches all around Turkey.That also means I am in an elite neighbourhood and I have a reputable image in society.For example,when I heard that I was entitled to enterMETU,many people from my environment asked me !what university would you enter?'I answered them with METU.Most of their reactions were astonishment.Then they started to ask'how did you achieve this?'However,some people at that moment,some people later everybody congratulated me and they usually told me the same things such as 'It is very good,it is wonderful,well done,wishing a continued success'.Afterwards,I understood that METU had a great status in community and I was proud of myself once again.Now,I am at METU an I am happy because I chose METU myself not my father or mother and it was my first choice.Moreover,METU has many opportunities for its sudents.For instance,in terms of sports it has many sport facilities such as stadium,astro pitches,tennis courts,swimming pools as outdoor and indoor pools,fitness centers,sports hall which are unavailable in most universities.When we take into consideration social activities,there are countless student clubs whatever suits you,you can easily register that club,so (that)you make new friends and become more social.Apart from its good parts,there may be some challenges you will face in METU.At the beginning of last year when I came here it was a bit challenging for me to live alone because I was away from my family in a different city for the first time.It was like starting a new life.Initially,I had no friends and urgently I had to make new friends,but after first week passed I got used to living alone and made new associates.In addition,in some cases,I had to cook,but I did not know how to cook different meals except for spaghetti.As time passed,I coped with all my problems and I began to enjoy my new and hard life without my parents in my university.After all,I am doing pretty well.

As a beginning, to be able talk about ideal university concept, we should know the definition of ideal at first.Ideal means only existing in your imagination or as an idea not likely to be real.According to this definition,an ideal university may have some imaginative peculiarities which might not be found in any university all around the world.In my opinion,firstly an ideal university must have autonomous environment.What I want to say is that all scientists,academists,professors and students must be exactly free while they are creating new knomledge,searching,writing a book,explaining their views about social events.In other words,any government or govermental institution shouldn't be able tointerfere college activities.With this free climate,every member of university can easily express their authentic ideas and nobody can intervene others.Besides that liberal atmosphere,an ideal university must have some characteristics to attract smart and hard-working students to its constitution.To my consideration,one of the most important features of an ideal college is where college is situated and what it can serve its participants.For example,in our country the best place for an ideal college is the southwest region of Turkey because I believe that the climate of the city where you live affects your psychology and mood substantially .Even if a university is prosperous but is placed in a hard area ,it may seem less likeable than a standard university.Not only its location but its facilities,opportunities and possibilities are significant for an ideal university as well.Inasmuch as,any student can't always study and wants to do some social activities,an ideal college must have a big campus enough to enjoy its students out of lesson hours.By doing these activities,a student can be more productive and have a good motivation.Eventually,when I look at my college,METU,I can say that in most aspects METU meets more than my expectations. It has almost all criteria I set for an ideal college aside from its location.I wish it had been constructed in a warm city,but anyway I am happy to be a member of METU and that's a privilege.

EL CLASSICO is the name given in football to any match between Real Madrid and FC Barcelona.. Originally it referred only to those competitions held in the Spanish championships,
however, nowadays - in order to satisfy marketing needs - the term has
been generalized, and tends to include every single match between the

Video Reflection The reason why I shared this video is to show history of world's most prestigious football match(Real Madrid-Barcelona) Firstly, I want to say that I am a fan of Real Madrid and I try to watch most of its matches.However, the most stormy Madrid matches are the ones which are against Barcelona.This is a worldwide match and millions of people watch this game all around the world.When the whistle goes all the fans start to sing marches and they form a spectacular atmosphere.This atmosphere is really worth seeing.If I have a chance in the future ,I will watch this match in Spain.

This video is about online friendships.As I mentioned this subject before I chose this video.I don't believe online friendships can be as sincere as real friendships.I can not trust anybody with whom I have never talked face to face.However, like the boy in this video many people support that online environments can provide you with real friends.Actually these people are also right.Because today's children do not have enough opportunities to communicate with eachother in real life,they try to find friend in the online world .Although I know that I prefer real friends to online ones.
